In the heart of Kalamazoo, Michigan, a residential bath remodel recently took place that transformed an ordinary bathroom into a luxurious sanctuary. This project was masterfully executed by the professionals at Character Interiors, a trusted local contractor known for their meticulous attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction.
Protecting the Home

The project began with a comprehensive preparation phase, adhering to Character Interiors’ guidelines and industry standards. The team took great care to protect the home during the project, providing floor protection and plastic containment during high dust and debris work. They also ensured daily clean-up and professional site clean-up at the completion of the project, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Demolition
The main bathroom remodel began with a thorough demolition process. The team carefully removed the existing base trim, linen cabinet door, and bathroom door, ensuring they were safely stored for re-installation. The existing toilet was also removed and saved for re-installation. The vanity toe kick was removed to facilitate the removal of the floor tile, and the existing bathtub and shower wall system were removed and disposed of. The team also removed the curtain rod, shower trim, shower valve, shower head, and arm, and disposed of them responsibly.
The demolition process also involved removing the floor tile, wallpaper border, and wallpaper adhesive. The team ensured that the floor underlayment was free from grout, preparing it for the installation of new LVT flooring. It’s important to note that no removal or replacement of any bathroom door, frame, or door casing was included in this proposal.
Rough-In

Following the demolition, the team moved on to the finish work, which included plumbing, electrical, and framing rough-in. They provided and installed a new shower valve, shower drain, and roughed-in all plumbing before the new shower system was installed. They also installed any new shut-offs if required.
The team then prepped the floors for the new LVT Flooring from Shaw: Paragon Tile Plus 07052 CLAY. They installed blockers in the framing for new grab bars and provided and installed a Sterling White Ensemble 4-Piece Tub/Shower System. The team also repaired all drywall affected by the remodel, blending it into the existing drywall and ensuring a smooth finish ready for prime and paint.
New Shower
The new shower system was installed to the manufacturer’s specifications, and a new Chrome ProFlo Tub Drain and Overflow were installed. The team also installed a new Delta T13491 Monitor Classic Series showerhead, Lever Handle, and trim in Chrome Finish, along with a new shower Chrome curtain rod.
Two new grab bars were installed, and a soft spot at the tub in the floor was repaired. The team then installed the new LVT Flooring to the bathroom floor, ensuring a staggered pattern and installing a transition strip at the bathtub-floor intersection. The existing stained base trim was re-installed, with new stained base trim supplied as needed.
Prime and Paint

The team then moved on to the prime and painting phase. They primed all new drywall with one coat and painted the ceiling with two coats of white semi-gloss latex. The walls were painted with two coats of semi-gloss finish Latex Paint in Sherwin Williams SW 7002 Futon.
Quartz Vanity Top
The final phase of the remodel involved installing a new Quartz Vanity Top and Faucet. The team removed the existing vanity top and faucet, disconnected the sink drain, and prepped for the new top. They provided and installed a new Quartz Vanity Top from Premier Granite & Stone, which included a backsplash, two side splashes, a white small oval undermount porcelain sink, and a Delta Classic Chrome Vanity Faucet. The sink and faucet were connected to the water lines and a new chrome drain.
Stunning Results

The result of this meticulous and comprehensive remodel was a stunning, luxurious bathroom that perfectly combined functionality with style. The new LVT flooring, Sterling White Ensemble 4-Piece Tub/Shower System, and Quartz Vanity Top transformed the space into a modern and elegant bathroom. The new grab bars and shower system ensured safety and convenience, while the fresh paint gave the room a bright and clean look.
